Kiaora/Welcome! We’re Tammy and Anita, two kiwi mum’s who love getting outdoors and into nature with our families and friends. Together we are Forest Family NZ.

We have always loved going on adventures in the outdoors, be that single or multi-day tramps (aka hikes), camping, mountain biking, rock climbing, snowboarding, skiing or surfing.  Since having children we have had to modify our activities somewhat… but it doesn’t mean we have stopped all together! Between us we have 4 kids aged from 10-8 years old. So exciting times ahead, going a bit further for a bit longer!

When we were kids, our parents took us for tramps and sometimes we would stay in huts. We think it was because of this close relationship with nature that we both ended up with careers in the outdoors. Tammy completed the Trainee Ranger course at Nelson/Marlborough Institute and was awarded a 2 year scholarship through the Department of Conservation, where she went on to work for more than 7 years.  Currently she works part-time as a Conservation Educator at Wild about NZ.  Anita is a registered secondary school science teacher with a bachelor’s degree in Earth Science from the University of  Waikato, previous to that she worked within local government and as a Teacher Aide.

So here’s to bringing the family along on adventures, dreaming big, getting muddy, laughing a lot, and trying new things together! We are so happy you’re coming along with us on this adventure!
