Nutshell: An old quarry transformed into an arty garden paradise! The kids will love this place, its full of wonderful sculptures & art, things to climb on and things to bang!
Location: 108 Te Puna Quarry Rd, off SHW 2, Tauranga.
Admission: Free. Open year round. This wonderful place is run by volunteers so donations are gratefully accepted and you will find an honesty box at the park entrance.
Walking tracks: There are tracks all over the place. However there is a map at the park entrance by the digger. If your looking for a bit more of a walk head around the top on the Main circular track, up the “Lions steps” to the peace gardens.
Otherwise the musical gardens and🦋 butterfly house are fabulous places to walk to with the kids if they are little. ****Plus there is a magical old dragon 🐱🐉with a slide near the car park toilets, to check out post walk****🌺
Duration: Forest Family: I recently walked the Main circular track with a friend and four kids aged 4-6 years old and they were totally capable of getting around this loop in 45 minutes, including a picnic at the top plus lots of stops to explore sculptures along the way.
Note: Te Puna Quarry Park is not a flat place to walk but if your feeling energetic you can push the buggy up to the butterfly house and musical garden -or enjoy a toddler paced walk! There are toilets in the car park and near the amphitheater.
